Running injuries

Understand the concern before deciding how to change your running.

The short answer

Running-related pain can have different contributors. Review symptoms, training history and examination findings before deciding whether to reduce, pause or modify running. Some injuries require a period away from impact activity and medical assessment.

What is usually going on

Running injuries tend to build gradually. A change in distance, pace, shoes or surface is a common trigger. Pain that alters your stride is a signal to get assessed before it becomes a longer layoff.

How we treat it

Discuss your symptoms, training history and existing instructions. The assessment informs whether activity should change, what a proposed plan aims to achieve and when it should be reviewed.

Common questions

What people ask us most about running injuries.

Do I have to stop running while injured?

Not always. Many runners can continue at a reduced load while they rehab. We help you find a level the injury tolerates.
